Terms of Reference

  1. Composition
    In accordance with the Bylaws, the Political Action Committee shall be composed of:
    1. One elected staff representative or alternate from each Branch.
    2. The President of District 19.
    3. One representative of the PSSP Unit.
    4. The chairperson, who is elected by the membership of District 19 in accordance with the Constitution and Bylaws.
    5. Up to 2 additional members, subject to ratification by District Council.
  2. Internal Structure
    Sub-Committees of the Political Action Committee may be formed to conduct such operations as may be required within the PAC purview. The sub-committee chairpersons shall be appointed by the PAC Chairperson.
  3. Operations
    1. Federal and Provincial Levels
      1. To keep Peel teachers informed of positions taken by provincial and federal politicians on educational matters.
      2. To initiate action among District 19 members on matters of concern for quality education.
      3. To support actions initiated by CPAC of OSSTF.
    2. Local Level
      1. To provide information to teachers regarding positions taken by politicians which affect quality education in Peel.
      2. To involve District 19 members in matters of political concern that affect members of OSSTF.
    3. Ongoing
      1. To monitor on-line reports of Regular Board Meetings of the Peel District School Board.
      2. To encourage direct communications between candidates, political parties and federation members.
      3. To promote and advance the cause of OSSTF and District 19 within the Branch.
      4. To assist other committees in any co-ordinated District activity
